Nut recipe for Type 2 Diabetes

Recent research has shown that eating nuts everyday can help control Type 2 diabetes. It is thought that eating just 2 ounces of nuts every day, rather than carbohydrates, helps to control glycemic levels as well as serum lipids in Type 2 diabetics. Nuts are known for their high levels of protein and essential oils. Brazil nuts, walnuts, peanuts and pecans are amongst the nuts which are high in healthy nut fats. They help to stabilise energy levels and keep you fuller for longer, making you less likely to snack on sweet treats between meals.

Dr. Stephen Lim, the study co-author and Associate Professor of Global Health at IHME says, “Too many people are not being properly diagnosed with diabetes and related cardiovascular risk factors. Those who are diagnosed aren’t being effectively treated,” and “This is a huge missed opportunity to lower the burden of disease in both rich and poor countries.”
